About Us

Shirley's Animal Ministry began in 2001 when our family helped with delivering church meals to shut-ins and low-income folks in the Fuquay-Varina, Holly Springs and Willow Spring area. We noticed that many folks in need also had one or several dogs and cats. We began to buy small bags of pet food and deliver those as a personal donation. Also, we noticed several cats that were pregnant and offered to take them to my vet for spaying to prevent the additional kittens that compound the problem.

We brought back several dogs, one at a time, to our home where we bathed and clipped them for the owners. Furthermore, we took them to the vet for rabies shots and spaying/neutering if necessary. When cold weather hit we purchased bales of wheat straw for bedding for many of the chained dogs that were discovered while driving the church meal routes.

Soon was realized that our family could do so much more to help these animals if we were able to start a foundation and fundraise for this purpose. Shirley's Animal Ministry was incorporated January 1st, 2004 as a non-profit public charity.
